CHURCH IN THE PARK FAQ’S

Here are some Frequently Asked Questions on Church in the Park (CITP)!

1. WHERE DO YOU MEET?:

Church in the Park takes place at Battle of Beaverdams Park in downtown Thorold. Refreshments are always served.

*Click on any date on our Events Calendar (also on our homepage) for more information on what we’re doing on a particular Sunday morning and WHAT TIME we are meeting.

2. WHAT CAN I EXPECT AT CHURCH IN THE PARK?

Here’s a typical morning in the park:

Opening/Welcome
Some music & singing (3-4 songs)
Prayer Time
Awesome, life-changing Message and/or Testimony!
Closing Song(s)
Verse of the Week/Send Off

We’re usually done in about an hour.

3. WHAT SHOULD I WEAR? (or not wear?!)

We want you to feel comfortable when you join us, especially since we are outside! Just come as you are and don’t forget the sunscreen πŸ™‚ There are park benches in the sun and also in the shade. Or bring a lawnchair or blanket.

4. WHAT DO YOU HAVE FOR KIDS?

Each Sunday morning our Kids Village Program is up and running! It’s for children ages 4 and up in the park. We do ask parents to sign their kids in and out for their safety and your peace of mind. But there is no pressure to have your kids in our program if you feel better keeping them with you.

5. WHAT IF I HAVE TO GO TO THE WASHROOM?!

The bandshell is open and there are bathrooms in the back. So never fear!

6. WAIT! WHAT ABOUT THE WEATHER? WHAT IF IT RAINS?

Oh ye of little faith!! πŸ™‚ In the last 7 years, we’ve only had to cancel for rain ONCE. No kidding! So we discourage people bringing their umbrellas or else you may jinx us! No, not really. IF the weather looks horrible, check our Facebook page or website for information on a change of venue. Our back-up location is the Youth for Christ Drop-In Centre (“The Upper Deck”) at 226 Merritt Street in St. Catharines, just down the hill from the Park. (Get directions.) There is parking in front, next door at Telus or across the street at Kaupp Electric.

7. IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?

Not really! In summary, our worship gatherings are pretty laid back and fun in the summer. We have song sheets available if you want to sing along. We have Information Pamphlets if you’d like to know more about us.

Overall, our people are friendly and our messages are practical – no previous Bible knowledge is necessary and you won’t need to learn any old English to understand them! We just love learning together. We also don’t ask visitors for money – our services are our gift to you. Oh! And all our gatherings include light refreshments. And feel free to bring a friend or family member along too. We even have people bring their dogs along. We hope to see you soon!

If you have any other questions that haven’t been answered here, feel free to email Erin, our Worship Director. She’d be happy to help!
